Tender Hooligans

The band started out a few years back in Umeå, a small town in the north of Sweden. Singer and songwriter Petrus Rånes hooked up with guitarist (multitalented) Fillip Holmberg. Some extremely dodgy demos were recorded on a stoneage computer that somehow made its way round town. Some cheered, some jeered, but the uncompromising and unapologetic sound left no one untouched. The band then went on a bit of a hiatus deciding to explore everything between heaven and earth for inspiration and other refreshments. By the summer of 2010 they were back with a new bag of tunes and lineup completed with Daniel Lindmark (drums), Arthur Kankaanpää (the bass) and Christian Johansson (rhythm guitar). Playing a few gigs in and around Umeå earned them a bit of a reputation leading up to a recording of a 4 song EP called “Weekend Religion” including the song “Nowhere Fast” that was quickly embraced by followers.The local press has found it hard to label the bands brand of music with some calling it Britpop, some Pubrock and some punk. Soundwise bands like The Clash, Oasis and The Primal Scream are clear influences but Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and even MJ are all adding spice to the sound. The band themselves though, think it's just good music. The way you were meant to roll a rock, dammit. Tender Hooligans  .
